Miracles make minds one in God.
They depend on cooperation because the Sonship is the
sum of all that God created. Miracles
therefore reflect the laws of eternity, not of time.
Basically, this means that what miracles
do is restore to our mind the awareness of our oneness in God. Miracles
do not make us one in God; miracles remind us that we are one in
God. Remember, once again, the key idea in the ego system and the ego's
way of perceiving is that we are separate. If I believe that my body is
sick, then I am making my body real, which means I am making the body's
purpose real. This is separation. If I become upset because you are sick,
I am doing the very same thing.
"They depend on cooperation because
the Sonship is the sum of all that God created." This expresses the same
idea: Cooperation means that you join with someone. And the Sonship of
God is one.
The other thing the Course repeatedly
says of itself, besides that it saves time, is that it is simple. By this
it does not mean that it is easy. It is simple because it sees everything
exactly the same way. All problems are the same; all people are the same.
We are all joined on the level of our minds. Therefore, it makes the solution
to all problems the same.
Q: Would that also
include joining with people who have gone before us?
A: Yes, sure. Relationships
are not of the body, so that you could have someone you were close to who
has died, and still have a meaningful relationship with him or her.
"Miracles therefore reflect the laws
of eternity, not of time." There's that word "reflect" again. The miracle
does not follow the law of eternity, because eternity has nothing to do
with the world of time. The miracle is only needed in the world of time.
So the miracle reflects the law of eternity. The law of eternity is that
we are all one, and we are all one right now.
